Expanding the GDS Discussion Paper on OPD engagement

Ahead of the GDS2022, the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and NORAD launched a Discussion Paper on OPD Engagement as a contribution to unpack, frame, guide and incentivize engagement of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in development and humanitarian action through the Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2022.
The paper builds on the tenets of the CRPD and recognizes people with disabilities as equal subjects of human rights and OPDs as intermediaries that represent people with disabilities and their critical issues. The GDS Secretariat, to further the work initiated by the release of the discussion paper, has created a database where all case studies received may be consulted.

On top of the Discussion Paper published in 2022 and the database, the GDS Secretariat also took the opportunity to further highlight five case studies that stood out for the comprehensive overview they gave of good practices around the world.
